Meet Jacob Zamora: Faith-Driven Veteran, Expert Firearms Instructor, and Community Leader
Jacob Zamora is a man whose life is guided by his deep faith and a relentless drive to serve and protect others. A proud veteran, Jacob spent four years in the U.S. Army as a Field Artillery Paratrooper, where he trained under a seasoned Green Beret. His courage and commitment were put to the test during a combat tour to Afghanistan in 2017, a testament to his bravery and dedication to safeguarding those around him.
After transitioning to civilian life in 2019, Jacob channeled his passion for firearms and his military expertise into becoming a certified Firearms Instructor through the NRA. With five years of executive protection experience under his belt—and the real-world responsibility of having drawn his firearm twice in civilian settings—Jacob brings unparalleled insight and real-world application to his instruction.
Today, Jacob is a full-time Firearms Instructor at Dropzone Tactical, where he also partners with other businesses to share his knowledge. In addition to his teaching, he’s pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business, underscoring his commitment to personal growth and professional excellence.
Jacob holds an impressive array of certifications that speak to his versatility and expertise:

OUR PRIVATE RANGE
Our outdoor range is exclusively for you upon taking a class. So no more loud indoor gun ranges with hundreds of unsafe shooters next to you. We train outdoors because the weather and bad guys don't care what time of day or season it is so you need to train the same way.

I wasn’t initially excited to take these courses, but my husband set it all up for me as a Christmas gift—and looking back, I’m so glad he did. When I started, I was completely new to firearms. I didn’t even take my gun out of the box but now, I carry it everywhere I can. The progress I’ve made in a few weeks is incredible, and I owe it to the training I received from Jacob at Dropzone Tactical.
I was nervous about working on a one-on-one setting. At first, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I ended up loving every class. Especially the ability to ask questions and not feel pressure. I ended up taking 4 classes, the LTC, Pistol 1, Pistol 2 and Defensive Pistol. The hands-on training was my favorite part—I got to actually practice shooting my gun on a nice range and even learning how to apply my practice to real-world scenarios like from my vehicle and clearing a room for home defense. I learned everything in-between and not just about learning the basics; it was about feeling truly prepared.
My instructor, Jacob was patient, knowledgeable, and made the classes fun, which really helped with the intensity of learning such powerful responsibility. He was very accommodating and flexible with scheduling, making it easy to take classes on my busy schedule. He also provided all the materials needed which was a huge help since I didn't buy my handgun until the second or third class.
Thanks to his guidance and expertise I passed my LTC first try, and I feel much more confident in myself. I never thought I’d say this, but I'm actually excited to take more I’m already planning to go back to learn about shooting a rifle next!
If you’re on the fence about taking a class, do it—you won’t regret it because you can never be too prepared. I took the Pistol 1 class with Jacob this past weekend and feel so much more confident with my gun. I'm new to shooting and wanted to learn all of the fundamentals properly and Jacob was great! Very patient, kind and helpful as I was learning. I had a few times when my gun jammed and learned that I need to be more forceful with it and really "tap and rack", etc. I feel like I was able to correct a couple of things I had learned just shooting at the ranch...not shutting one eye when focusing on the target, being far more aware of the best way to hold my gun for safety and better control, etc. I look forward to a future class with him.
